The 2023 2nd Green Tea Capital Boseong National University Club Football Tournament, organized by Boseong County, Jeollanam-do and the Jeollanam-do Football Association, concluded on Friday.
About 500 players from 24 universities across the country participated in the tournament. Chosun University’s CFC club won the title after a tough group stage and main tournament.
Project Weed, a sports blockchain specialist, also helped organize the tournament. Using WEDID, which is operated by Project Weed, all operation manuals such as athlete registration, notarization, and record management were computerized.
Eunbee Choi, director of Project Weed, said, “The sports activity history information of individuals collected through WEDID is part of the data construction project, and the accumulated data is expected to be used in various industries such as sports history proof, fantasy games, and sports NFTs. It was meaningful to utilize WEDID’s technology for this tournament.”
Shin Jeong-sik, head of the Jeollanam-do Football Association, also commented on Project Weed’s participation, saying, “We have been holding tournaments with Boseong-gun since last year to expand the base of amateur soccer. In particular, it is differentiated from existing soccer tournaments in that we can improve the efficiency of soccer tournament operations by utilizing WEDID services. We hope that the Boseong Bulgyo Football Center, with its excellent natural environment and football infrastructure, will become a cradle for amateur footballers and contribute to regional development.” 무지개토토
