Samsung has reorganized its coaching staff under Lee Jong-yeol.
Samsung announced on Wednesday that it has hired coaches Jung Min-tae (pitching) and Lee Jin-young (hitting). Samsung, which had already entrusted former Dongwon University coach Chung Dae-hyun to take charge of the second team, also hired pitching coach Kang Young-sik and training coach Kim Ji-hoon to strengthen the second team staff.
Coach Jung, who has been on the field as a commentator on SPOTV, is one of Korea’s leading pitching trainers. He joined the Pacific in 1992 and led them to their modern heyday. He has also worked as a pitching coach for Lotte and Hanwha, where he was responsible for keeping young pitchers energized through casual conversations.
National coach Lee Jin-young, a former SSG coach, was synonymous with the Hotazuns for his so-called level swing. He played 20 seasons for SK and LG, amassing 2125 hits and a .305 career batting average.
Futures manager Chung Dae-hyun is the ‘queen bee’, a closing pitcher who guarded SK’s back door during the dynasty. He was known as the “international nuclear submarine” at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was on the mound in the baseball final of the 2008 Beijing Olympics to seal the gold medal.
A former Samsung coach, Kang Young-sik also coached at Lotte and is known for his integrity.

Samsung general manager Lee Jong-yeol said, “Along with an experienced first-team pitching coach, we have recruited a young leader with strengths in pitcher development as the Futures manager. We are confident that this will help us build a strong team that can consistently challenge for the postseason.”
“We needed to strengthen our training program to fundamentally improve the velocity of our rookie pitchers and the power of our hitters, and hiring a training coach is the first step. We are determined to make an immediate impact on the first team, including managing player injuries, while also developing the future.”
