Bayern Munich defender Mathias de Ligt finally made his return from injury.
The Bavarians won their eighth round match of the 2023/24 German Bundesliga season 3-1 against Mainz 05 at the Meba Arena in Mainz, Germany on Sunday (Sept. 22). Munich remains in third place in the league with six wins and two draws in eight games (20 points).
Munich dominated Mainz early in the first half. Kingsley Coman opened the scoring in the 11th minute, and the Bavarians made it 2-0 five minutes later with Harry Kane’s second goal in the 16th minute. Munich conceded a goal in the 43rd minute to Mainz’s Anthony Cassi, but Leon Goretzka added a third 14 minutes into the second half. The game ended 3-1 in favor of Munich.
There were some familiar faces in this match. It was Munich’s main defender, De Ligt. He made his comeback in about a month after injuring his knee against Bochum on Sept. 23 and being substituted at halftime. With central defender Dayo Upamecano out with a hamstring injury, De Ligt’s return was a welcome one.
De Ligt partnered with Kim Min-Jae in central defense. According to soccer stats site Sofascore, De Ligt had six clearances, one blocked shot, and one interception in 90 minutes against Mainz. He completed 89% of his passes, won one ground ball contest and four aerial contests. Couchscore gave De Lichte a rating of 7. 토스카지노 도메인
De Ligt spoke to the German kicker about his performance against Mainz. “It was good to play the full time. I’ve been having trouble walking lately, but now I can run again. If you find your flow, you might not get a warning. I’m sure we’ll find a good flow through the game.”
De Lichte also talked about his partnership with Kim Min-jae. “We played well together,” De Lichte said of Kim. I think we have a lot of qualities that are compatible with each other. The more we play together, the better we will get.”
