16-year-old Ramin Yamal breaks La Liga record for youngest goal in 2-2 draw with Barça

FC Barcelona’s 16-year-old prodigy Ramin Yamal has broken the record for the youngest goal in Spanish La Liga.

Ramin Yamal scored in the first minute of first-half stoppage time to earn FC Barcelona a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Granada in the ninth round of the 2023-2024 Spanish La Liga on Monday (Aug. 8).

Yamal found the back of the net with a left-footed shot after João Felix’s shot was blocked, making him 16 years, 87 days old (born July 13, 2007).

The previous record for the youngest goal in La Liga was held by Fabrice Olanga (Málaga), who scored against Celta Vigo in 2012 at the age of 16 years and 98 days.

Yamal has played in all nine La Liga games this season, starting five, including the last two. He was born to a Moroccan father and Guinean mother and is a product of the Barça academy. He has been kicking a ball for Barça since the age of five.

Barça conceded to Briaan Zaragoza just 17 seconds into the game against Granada on Sunday, and were down to him again in the 29th minute.

However, a late Sergi Roberto goal in the 40th minute, after Ramin Yamal had pulled one back for the visitors, held them to a narrow draw. Roberto came on for Fermín López 16 minutes into the second half to save the team from defeat. 토토사이트

João Felix scored in stoppage time, but the goal was disallowed after video assistant referee (VAR) showed an offside foul on Ferran Torres.

Barça’s record of six wins and three draws (21 points) puts them in third place behind Real Madrid (8 W, 1 D, 24 points) and Girona (7 W, 1 D, 22 points).

Head coach Xavi Hernández Barça deployed a 4-3-3 on the day, with João Felix, Ferran Torres, and Ramin Yamal up front.

Barça dominated the game with 80.8% possession and outshot the opposition 22-7 (10-2 on target), but were held in check by Granada goalkeeper Andre Pereira, who made eight saves.
