His goal scoring percentage is a whopping 31.2%. Son Heung-min’s goal-scoring prowess is insane.
Tottenham Hotspur played Arsenal to a 2-2 draw in the sixth round of the 2023-24 English Premier League (PL) season at the Emirates Stadium in London, England, on April 24 at 10 p.m. ET. The draw kept both teams unbeaten in their opening six games (four wins and two draws), but failed to add to their three points and slipped down the standings.
It was an all-out war between two teams in top form. Arsenal started with Xhaka, Nketiah, Jesús, Ödegaard, Vieira, Rice, Zinchenko, Magalhaes, Saliba, White, and Laya. Tottenham started ‘Captain’ Son Heung-min, along with Johnson, Kulusebski, Maddison, Sarr, Bissouma, Udoji, Van der Vaart, Romero, Foro, and Vicario.
Arsenal took the early lead. In the 26th minute, Ödegaard’s pass was collected by Xhaka, who moved from the flank to the center and curled a left-footed shot past Romero. Afterward, Xhaka sent the Arsenal fans into a frenzy by performing James Maddison’s favorite “darting” move.
Tottenham couldn’t stand still either. It took Son Heung-min to revive Spurs’ attack. In the 37th minute, Kulusebski’s ball was played in by Son, who played an exquisite pass from the right flank to Johnson, whose unstoppable shot was denied by a super save from Raya. In the end, it was Son who was responsible for the equalizer. In the 42nd minute, Madsen beat competition from Saka on the flank and slipped a pass through for the onrushing Son, who turned non-stop before slotting home against the post. Afterward, Son celebrated with the Arsenal fans by performing a ‘hissy fit’ to heat up the North London derby.
It was the North London Derby after all. After a 1-1 first half, Arsenal took off Rice and Vieira to start the second half, bringing on Haberth and Jorginho. Arsenal pulled a goal back. In the fifth minute of the second half, Sakho’s cross was met by White and struck Romero’s hand as he shot, and a penalty was awarded after VAR. Saka stepped up to take the kick nine minutes later. Xhaka provoked again with a darting serenade.
But Son Heung-min was quick to respond. In the 10th minute of the second half, after a mistake by Jorginho, Maddison immediately counterattacked and laid off a pass, which Son rattled the net with an exquisite right-footed shot. Son then taunted the Arsenal fans by pointing to the Tottenham shirt, and later celebrated with Maddison. 레고토토
The result was a 2-2 draw, but it showed the intensity of the North London derby, especially between Son and Xhaka, the ace and number seven of the two teams. Most notably, Son scored two goals in the North London derby, breaking three historic scoring records at the same time,
the first being his 150th goal for Tottenham. With his two goals on the day, Son scored his 150th goal in a Tottenham shirt and his 199th goal in Europe. He needs just one more goal to score his 200th in Europe.
